Hosted by Lindsay McDougall, Anthem! invites iconic Australian songwriters to dissect one of their biggest hits.
This unique interview series delves deep into some of the biggest and most enduring songs in Australia’s history – songs that by just name alone evoke memories of time and place, of experiences and emotions.
The next Anthem! is Thurs, Nov 19th at Giant Dwarf, featuring Killing Heidi’s Ella Hooper, who’ll be exploring one of the bands biggest hits.
Ella Hooper is an Australian musician, radio presenter and TV personality. Best known as the lead singer of Killing Heidi, the band formed in 1996 (when Ella was 13) and also featured her older brother Jesse Hooper. Their biggest hits were “Mascara”, “Live Without It” and “Weir”. Ella and Jesse have performed small scale venues as an acoustic band called The Verses. Ella is now a radio presenter on 2DayFM, and was one of the two captains in the revival of the ABC television show, Spicks and Specks.
Lindsay McDougall aka The Doctor, is an Australian musician and radio presenter. Since 1996, he has been the lead guitarist in punk rock band, Frenzal Rhomb. McDougall joined the triple j team in January 2005, hosting the breakfast show with his friend and Frenzal Rhomb band-mate Jay Whalley. He went on to also co-host triple j Breakfast, before moving to the afternoon time slot presenting his own afternoon drive show from 2009 to 2014.
