Presented by Sahara Productions
Faded cabaret darling Gigi Fontaine has washed up in Sydney right on closing time, ready to shower her adoring fans with love, sequins and grey-import gin. With a string of tours, divorces and suspicious nightclub fires under her belt, Gigi is returning to the stage at the Sydney Comedy Festival for one night only. ‘Whatever Happened to Gigi Fontaine’ charts the story of a star on the decline, making one last grab for fame with her manicured claws.
The trashy highlight of the Sydney Fringe Festival, Gigi has lured crowds at Jurassic Lounge, Mr Falcon’s Burlesque and The Vanguard to name a few. Now, in the face of an emerald city that’s slowly shutting up shop, Ms Fontaine is giving crowds one last bang at the Giant Dwarf (fire codes and restraining orders permitting).
Part stand-up, part cabaret, part freebasing sequins off a toilet seat ‘Whatever Happened to Gigi Fontaine’ is one Vicodin-fuelled Vegas spectacle not to be missed.
