Sydney favourite (and fiercest) cabaret idiots are back with another high energy, hilarious & devilishly bizarre adventure through the darkest corners of misogynist pop, rock, hiphop and RnB. These four women take on the western world’s most famous male musicians and reinvent them, exposing surprising themes, hideous lyrics and more than a few inexplicable metaphors. Confounding expectations, Lady Sings it Better gets audiences dancing in their seats, faces aching from laughter.
With songs by Bruno Mars, Prince, Meat Loaf, Justin Bieber, Robert Palmer, Usher, Tom Jones, and a 90s boy band or three, Lady Sings it Better is far from a feminist lecture; it’s dry-witted, fast-paced musical comedy with minds in the gutter and tongues planted firmly in cheek (not to mention a healthy dose of dad-jokes).
Since Lady first took to the stage in 2009, the public conversation about feminism has grown and changed. Fueled by yet another chat about whether political correctness has “gone mad” the ladies decided it was time to chuck on some glitter and mash up a few more tunes.
Winner Best Cabaret at Sydney Fringe 2016, Lady Sings it Better have performed to critical acclaim and full houses at Sydney Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Festival of Voices – Tasmania, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and more.
