Maeve Marsden presents:
Join some of Australia’s best storytellers for an evening of queerstories; reflections on lives well lived and battles fought, pride, prejudice, love and humour. The LGBTQI+ community has been sharing stories for centuries, creating our own histories, disrupting and reinventing conventional ideas about narrative, family, love and community.
There’s more to being queer than coming out and marriage. Listen to an unexpected tale or two from a diverse line up of stars and strangers, hosted by Maeve Marsden.
MARCH 8th 2019 – Queerstories x Archer Magazine: issue #11 – the GAZE issue
In March, Queerstories is teaming up with Archer Magazine to celebrate LGBTQI+ writers in print. The world’s most inclusive magazine about sexuality, gender and identity, Archer Magazine has been publishing diverse voices for 5 years. Issue #11 will be launched at Giant Dwarf, with performers from Archer Magazine’s pool of contributors. Centered on the notion of the gaze (let’s be clear: that’s ‘GAZE’, not ‘GAYS’), Issue #11 includes a feature interview with Mojo Juju as well as work exploring dating and invisible illness, sex work as spectacle, gender and language, femme and the male gaze, passing as white, Fa’afafine, reclaiming trauma and much more.
Order your magazine when you purchase a ticket for the discount price of $10! Please note: If you choose this option, this is exclusively for pick up at the event. We are unable to refund this option or deliver the magazine if folks cannot pick up on the day.
Hosted by Maeve Marsden.
Wheelchair accessible // Auslan Interpreted // If you have any other access requirements/things that would help you feel comfortable, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
This event is a safer space, which means that when entering it, folks agree to work against homophobia, racism, transphobia, classism, fatphobia, ableism, and other forms of oppressive behaviour. Please let someone from the Archer team know if this space isn’t upheld.
