Maeve Marsden presents:
Join some of Australia’s best storytellers for an evening of queerstories; reflections on lives well lived and battles fought, pride, prejudice, love and humour. The LGBTQI+ community has been sharing stories for centuries, creating our own histories, disrupting and reinventing conventional ideas about narrative, family, love and community.
There’s more to being queer than coming out and marriage. Listen to an unexpected tale or two from a diverse line up of stars and strangers, hosted by Maeve Marsden.
March 6th 2020 – Queerstories
Hosted by Maeve Marsden
Featuring Jenna Suffern, Tenille Rogers, Iz Connell, Stacy Farrar, Panda Cheong and David Mejia Canales (with Maeve probably singing some sort of high drama farewell ballad to the venue and crying).
Fast becoming an institution around the country, Queerstories is also available via podcast and as a collection of stories published by Hachette in 2018.
Each month, Queerstories donates 6 tickets to the Asylum Seeker Centre, reserving a further 4 tickets for those who cannot afford to attend. If you can’t afford a ticket, email firstname.lastname@example.org at least a week before the show to book yourself in.
All Queerstories events are Auslan interpreted.
We acknowledge our event will take place on stolen land. We pay our respects to Indigenous elders past, present and future. Sovereignty was never ceded.
Courtyard bar opens at 6:30pm for a 7:30pm start. Pop in before the show for a drink and a mingle!
Giant Dwarf is a licensed venue. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
