Maeve Marsden presents:

After months without gathering together, award-winning storytelling project Queerstories makes a gentle, tentative return to the stage at Giant Dwarf, with intimate (yet distanced) shows.

Join 6 of Sydney’s finest LGBTQI+ storytellers for an evening of tales from lockdown – stories of community, protest, love, struggle, mutual aid and, of course, a bucketload of queer yearning and desire. Engaging, smart and at times downright hilarious, Queerstories has become an institution around the country, celebrating the best of queer culture and creativity.

Hosted by Maeve Marsden, with Patrick Lenton, Enoch Mailangi, Farz Edraki, Michael Sun and Alex Gallagher. Auslan interpreted by Natt Kull and Leah Brown.

This is a live podcast recording for the City of Sydney funded Queerstories in Lockdown project. The 5.30pm session will be live streamed for those who wish to access the Auslan translation, or those unable to attend the live event.

Ticket sales and donations made on the live stream will go towards covering costs for the project and for Giant Dwarf, but it’s important to note that all performers, Auslan interpreters, creatives and crew are on a guaranteed fee.

This project is made possible with funding from a City of Sydney Creative Fellowship.

Nearly 250 people have shared their stories at Queerstories, some of these available on the award-winning podcast and as a collection of stories published by Hachette in 2018.

Venue & bar opens a minimum of 30 minutes before the show. Please check the session time on your ticket. Pop in early to grab a drink and a good seat!

Giant Dwarf is a licensed venue. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

All Queerstories events are Auslan interpreted.

Giant Dwarf has a flat entry and flat entry toilets, but the toilets aren’t legally accessible. Renovations to rectify these issues were planned for 2020 and will hopefully proceed next year. If you require wheelchair accessible seating, please get in touch with the venue at, and they will call you to discuss.

Queerstories events may include content that could be distressing for some people. The producer is unable to provide specific content warnings in advance of tickets going on sale, as stories are only submitted a few days prior to the event. If you require specific content warning information please contact Maeve Marsden on

Please do not attend if you are experiencing any flu like symptoms, have travelled overseas within the last 14 days or have been in direct or indirect contact with a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19.
