Andrew Hansen

Andrew Hansen is a comedian, actor and musician, best known as a member of Australian comedy group The Chaser. His TV shows include The Chaser’s Election Desk (2016), Media Circus (2014-15), The Hamster Wheel (2011-2013), Yes We Canberra! (2010), The Chaser’s War On Everything (2006-9), The Chaser Decides (2004, 2007) and CNNNN (2002-3) — all prime-time shows on ABC. On the Seven network, Andrew produced and performed in The Unbelievable Truth (2012). He has also appeared as a guest on most Australian TV shows that have guests.

The Chaser’s shows have won two TV Week Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Comedy, and Andrew won the AFI Award for Best Performance in Television Comedy (2006).

Andrew’s radio work includes shows on Triple M as well as composing and starring in the musical comedy series and ARIA Award winning album The Blow Parade (triple j, 2010).

On stage Andrew composed and starred in the musical Dead Caesar (Sydney Theatre Company), did two national tours with The Chaser, and two national tours with Chris Taylor (One Man Show, 2014 and In Conversation with Lionel Corn, 2015). In 2017 he’s starring in Tim Firth’s play Neville’s Island (Ensemble Theatre).

On the big screen, Andrew played ‘Dex’ in Sanctum (Universal, 2011). On Netflix he’s the voice of ‘Mudwasp’ in Beat Bugs (2016).

Andrew composed all The Chaser’s songs as well as the theme music for The Chaser’s Election Desk, Media Circus and The Chaser’s War On Everything. His War theme won the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Award for Best Television Theme.

In print he wrote for the humorous fortnightly newspaper The Chaser (1999-2005), eleven Chaser Annuals (Text Publishing, 2000-10), and for the recently launched Chaser Quarterly (2015-17). He contributed short stories to Best Australian Comedy Writing (Affirm Press, 2016) and Journey Through Humour (Oxford, 2003).

In the corporate world, Andrew has been an MC and guest speaker at events for dozens of companies and organisations. He’s the voice of Commercial Radio Australia’s It’s a Love Thing campaign.
